Trails Offroad™ provides the ability to record a track and drop waypoints within the app. This gives users the ability to create and manage their own data without the need for a second app! Let's get to the how-tos!
Recording a track
While on the Map tab, you will see these new features in the lower left-hand corner of the map: Record Track and Add Waypoint.
To record a track, simply tap the Record button.
Time Elapsed and Distance will be visible while driving. This control can be expanded to also display Total Ascent and Total Descent. When paused, the app can be fully closed, and your phone can be turned off while still maintaining the ability to resume on the next app open.
Once you finish the track, a details screen will appear. Here, you can edit the title, choose a track color, or add notes.
Adding a Waypoint
To add a waypoint, simply tap the Waypoint icon in the lower left corner of the map. The default location of the waypoint will be dropped at your location. If you want to change, simply tap and hold and then drag the waypoint to your desired location. In the bottom menu, you can change the name, add notes, or change the color or icon by tapping the icon image.
Waypoints can also be dropped by tapping elsewhere on the map and selecting Add Waypoint. Coordinated can be copied, if tapped. Elevation is only available with an internet connection.
Editing a Saved Track or Waypoint
To edit the details of your content, tap on the desired track or waypoint. Then, select the content from the pop-up menu. From here, tap More and then Edit. At this time, waypoints cannot be repositioned after saving.
Sharing Data
Tracks and waypoints can be shared with a few simple taps! To begin, tap on the track or waypoint on the map. Then, select the content that you would like to share in the pop-up menu.
Adding Content to a List
Tracks and waypoints can easily be added to one of your lists. Begin by selecting the track or waypoint that you would like to add. Then, tap Add to List.
Filtering
You also have the ability to filter the content on the map by 3 categories: Trails Offroad™ Guides, My Tracks, and My Waypoints.
These features require iOS 16+ or Android 13+.
