There are two ways to search for trails by difficulty: By list or by map view. Please note that this is only available via the website.
To search by map view
Begin by clicking on the "Trail Map" tab at the top of the screen.
In the top left corner of the map, you will find the advanced search options.
As you select your criteria, the map will filter the trails based on what you are looking for. Please keep in mind that filtering by trail status and experience will only yield trails that have a full Trail Guide, not Scout Routes.
For example, if you are looking for easy/moderate trails near Moab with camping and overlanding, you will input "easy: moderate", "Open", and then select "Camping, Overlanding". This will display the results found within the current map view.
Via Mobile Web Browser
This functionality is also available via mobile web browser. First, tap the menu icon in the top right corner.
Then tap "Trail Map".
Once you are viewing the map, tap the filter icon on the right-hand side of the screen.
Once you have the filters up, select your search criteria, and then tap the "X" in the top right corner to close the menu.
To search by list
First, start by clicking the magnifying glass icon in the top right corner of your screen.
Next, either click "Try Advanced Search" or just hit enter. This will bring up the advanced search feature.
From here, you can search by the same criteria: Status, categories, and difficulty, as well as distance from any given city/town.
Via Mobile Web Browser
You can also perform an Advanced Search via a mobile web browser. To get to the Advanced Search, start by tapping the magnifying glass icon in the top right corner of your screen.
Then, tap "Advanced Search".
This will bring up all of the Advanced Search options, which, upon selection, will be displayed in list view.
